There are lots of nameless street singers on thye Tokyo street. Even they are not famous, each street singer have their own story. and of course each street singer sing their own song. Because each singer have their own life that is full of story to be sung.
Why not do you listen their song ?
instead of their singing, now I tell their story.

His guitar playing is not so good. He seem to be impossible to play guitar while singing.

and He seem not to remember the song yet. Sometime he blime the score.

But he really seem to sing his best.

He seem to sing with deep emotion.

He seem to sing his romance.

He seem to sing his dream.

He seem to sing his sorrow.

He seem to sing his worry.

He seem to sing his passion !!

But nobody listen his song.

This is Tokyo street sionger story on the street.

He makes great faces. I’ll seek him up and listen to his songs. People singing with emotion and passion and worry – that’s really something.

  3. Danny Howard says:

    Masa,
I did not know you were capable of subtlety. This story is very well composed, and touching in its own way.
    Bravo!

  4. Jasmine says:

It’s sad to see someone giving their best singing while nobody notices. I guess that’s the price of a modern metropolis.

But now his effort is shown.

  5. clapstone says:

maniacal misgivings disguised as deceptive undertones of emotional distress, distributed haphazardly through the wanton use of figurative symbolism found in the soul of the street performer longing for acceptance
    I feel his pain

One of the best experiences I ever had was watching the blues singer W.C. Clark play. It was at Antone’s blues club in Austin (the old location at 30th street). It was after 1am, and there were perhaps five people in the club, including the workers. But, he sang like the house was full. He didn’t lessen his effort. I was highly impressed by his integrity.

  10. i-freak says:

Street singing is a hard job; you are mostly ignored by passers by, the hours are long, the pay is bad, the police constantly harras you, you have no medical insurace, you are always at the mercy of the wheather…
I would rather be a stupid costume clever crimer distributing ilegal handbill.

  11. Alexia says:

I wonder how well an American would do… if they went to Japan and sang in Japanese.. what do you think about it??

  12. naranjita says:

i’d stick to your day job, alexia 😉

The Greektown blues singers are typically pretty good, and the guy that plays drums and sings improvicaly is pretty good, but Masa brings a certain color to his stories. Colorful Masa
