Action reading VS Skin head monk
Different from German, skin head is symbol of monk in Japan. this skin head guy have Buddha phirosophy. and right man wear glass. This is symbol of modern people. He must be a typical present-day children. so he is highly irritated man !
After starting to read, he start to cross his leg.

after that, he bend down little bit.

after that, he start to sit straight.

after that, he put his left elbow on the desk and hold his head.

after that, he stop to hold his head.and bend down bit.

After that, he start to sit straight.

After that, he put his right elbow on the desk and hold his head.

After that, he stop to hold his head and start to lean on his back.

And start to smork.

and start to drink water.

and start to put his elbow on his chair and to hold his head.

and go to toilet.

and come out of toilet.

His irritation make also other people irritate.

He is irritated reader. He is typical present day people.

But monk is very still.

Monk’s reading is still.

He hardly move.

Never move.

Very still except to flip

or drinking coffee

He is still

Hardly move

never move.

Reading book is very popular leisure activity in Japan. Most people regard reading book is not physical exercise. But modern people read a book very sporty.

Oct 18, 2004 @ 23:23:46
mr. Masa, i stumbled upon your site a few days ago, and loved it from the very start.

great photos, great storyteling, great insights from japanese culture.
i´m a voracious consumer of other cultures, specially oriental culture, and i have some ground to say that your site offers a marvellous insider´s look of what would be, otherwise, difficult to understand cultural issues.
Thanks for the great work!
Just to locate you, i´m from Brasil, living right now at Sao Paulo, wich happens to have the largest japanese community outside Japan (maybe you have some relative around here?)
======================from MasaManiA
I have no relatives in other country. But I want to have many other country wifes.
Oct 18, 2004 @ 23:51:05

This article was just pulled over from your old site, right? Very good though! Another funny story!
===================================from MasaManiA
Certainly Yes. THank you for your attention. It’s pulled over from. Because old site was for the Japanese people written by Japanese language. But now I re-edit them again and edit pictures more clearly and write report by English for English visitor. Please understand my intention. It is not just a re-use of old article.

This article is very funny ^^ haha, I do the “sporty” kind of reading ;b

RE: Articles pulled from old site.
Okay, thank you Masamania, I understand know. I remember visiting your old site and trying to read this article (along with Ayum fan ride, Psyco lecemu, cut girl…). Thanks for another great translation, very funny article.
I read about this thing for females called the “pee princess” or something like that. It’s a system for females so when they go to the bathroom it makes “special” noises, could you try to find some information about that and write an article about that. It sounds very intresting!
Looking forward to another article!!!
================================from MasaManiA
I think your saying is peeing sound silencer.
http://www.pref.osaka.jp/oidc/ie/product/otohime.htm
It is bit popular in Japan. The noise of peeing and shitting is very shameful for Japanese who are normally elegance. So people try to erase peeing noise not to be heard next room person. Then we use that macine to make fake noise. That page say that it’s very economically because people not to run the water to erase peeing & shitting sound.
Oct 19, 2004 @ 06:18:31
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Could you write an article about that and interview some people on the street and see what they think about it!!! HAHAHAHAHAH! That’s sooooo funnY!
=================================from MasaManiA
It’s impossible. Because Japanese people is so elegance. They never talk about such thing to unknown person on the street.
Oct 19, 2004 @ 08:13:57
What a perfect study of the differences between an ‘irritated’ modren attitude, and a ‘calm’ classic attitude. Nice.
Oct 19, 2004 @ 13:54:31
RE: Peeing Sound Silence
That’s too bad no one will talk about it. Maybe you could just take pictures of it or something and write about its purpose. You could TRY (just try) interviewing some people–maybe.
Oct 19, 2004 @ 15:12:06
The monk is definately the cool one here! Respect to da monks!
But please do not generalze about bald ppl! I’m german (though live in Japan) and I _am_ bald (shaved) but I hate neo nazi like the death!
Oct 20, 2004 @ 07:14:57
I love you. I am a prisoner in a very depressed and illiterate (not reading) city. I have been here for four (4) years because I want to learn a specific thing that is not taught anywhere else. I read books all the time (my favourite is “my happy days in hell” by George Faludy. it is not a book about satan. in fact there is not a single unhappy word in it and that is why it my favourite.) I hope to tell you one thing: you are a very generous human being to have this site and you are also a man of exceedingly detailed observance. your camera is your weapon. I love you. (like a brother, not like an uncle)
dingo.
Oct 20, 2004 @ 08:01:07
One more question on “P Princess”
How does it work?
Do you need to press a button before knowing your ready to piss or shit?
Or does it sense the vibration in the air that some shit or piss will be coming out of the ass?
Thank you very much.
===============================from MasaManiA
The one I know is pressing the button sir.
Oct 24, 2004 @ 21:26:06
Hahah, this was so fun to read/watch.
I feel educated! Thank you, mr. Masa!
PS: no middle finger is unusual.
Oct 24, 2004 @ 22:01:45
This one was excellent! It was great to see the contrast between a disciplined and undisciplined man. Your commentary was hilarious! Thanks for sharing!
Oct 25, 2004 @ 06:52:29
Hi Masa,
I discovered your site today and love it, it is so hilarious! thank you so much for documenting your people in such fucking funny ways.
about the pee princess and elegance, I have a Japanese fiend (girl) who told me (out of nowhere) that a lot of Japanese people are constipated. She said she shits everyday but a lot of her friends only go once a week and that, when they do, they have (and she checked in her electronic pocket dictionary for this one) “difficult delivery”.
Keep up the reporting!!
Also, I have heard about “love motels” I am interested…

Mar 24, 2005 @ 07:08:06
maybe the thin nervous young man should try reading a different book
also, the size of the books seem to reflect the physical and mental attributes of the readers
thin and shallow as compared to thick and contemplative

Mr. Masa,
Is it acceptable Buddhist practice to drink coffee?
My understanding is that the use of substances like caffeine may disrupt awareness.
Perhaps this is overgeneralized idea, or my understanding is mistaken. Or perhaps he drinks decaffeinated.
Thank you again for your work on this site!

Fuck you! If you mean that skinheads are racists, facists or neo nazis… fuck you!
Internet has many sites about what a skinhead really is, stop listening to mass media TVs or Press and swallow them… just check this out : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinhead
